Disciple-Making in a New Context
The focus of Compass Community and any church is to make disciples of Jesus. Everything we do is intended to complement this main purpose. Context and relevance are important for establishing a doorway for people to start their journey to know, believe and follow Jesus. While the conventional church was relevant and effective in its inception, but in some cases, it could be more challenging for seekers and Christians to experience a full life in Jesus. By creating a new context, the hope is to create new opportunities for disciple making in our contemporary context and culture.
Similar to the cardinal points of a compass, the Compass community is guided by four core values on our journey of disciple-making.
Nurture one another through Peer Leadership
Representing a mutual connection that Christians share through Christ, fellowship enables us to willingly submit our lives to His will and live for His glory. In the unity of peer leadership, we desire to empower our community to inspire, motivate, and lead each other towards Jesus Christ. Together, we can accomplish far more than any one of us can achieve alone in our journey of sanctification. (Philippians 2:1-7)
Worship with Diversity and Creativity
In each culture and language, God has imprinted His image. Exploring the multifaceted ways to worship the Almighty through various forms of expression is an amazing journey. We desire to foster an environment in which individuals can utilize the spiritual gifts given to them by God. When individuals use their spiritual gifts to worship God in a secure environment that enables authenticity, they are able to fully listen, receive, contribute, and create with others. The diversity, spanning a spectrum of languages, cultures, generations, and church backgrounds, infuses a profound sense of creativity, which elevates and deepens the bonds of community among those in attendance. (Colossians 3:16-17)
Embrace the Value of Family
Inspired by the teachings of love and unity within the Christian faith, we recognize that the family is a divine institution blessed by God. We believe that fostering strong family bonds is central to building a resilient and compassionate community. Our congregation is dedicated to creating an environment where families are not only supported but celebrated. We strive to empower families to serve and grow together in faith. (1 Timothy 5:8)
Spiritual Transformation
The journey of spiritual transformation is a highly individualized and diverse experience, as people from different backgrounds, religions, and beliefs may undertake this journey in unique ways. The transformation of individuals within the context of their families provides a powerful catalyst for positive change for the household. By bridging the generational gap, our commitment to spiritual transformation reflects not only our belief in the transformative power of God’s love within the sacred unit of the family but also our dedication to fostering unity and understanding across generations. (Romans 12:1-2)
